WWI ITALIAN COASTAL DEFENCE GUN ITEMS.
Two interesting items brought back at the end of WWII by a British officer. Being two impressive brass items removed from an Italian coastal defence gun in the area of Naples. The larger piece is maker marked and dated January 1918 measuring 40 cm by 29cm. It has beautifully engraved crossed cannons, an anchor and what appears to be a weapons stand. GERMAN/TURKISH MG08 AMMUNITION BOX.
A rare accessory for the MG08 Maxim machine gun being the very first pattern ammunition box constructed in wood with all brass edge fittings and brass handle with Turkish script hand applied to the side of the box, this is faint and maybe difficult to pick up on our web images but is clear when held in the hand. read more
MAUSER BOLT ACTION RIFLES.
Excellent work by Ludwig Olson, 3rd printing, complete with its original fly leaf cover. This 1976 work on the history of Mauser bolt action rifles from the model 71 rifle up to the Mauser 98 of WWII and includes many export models of Mausers. Superb quality research. read more
GERMAN SAXON MODEL 1887 REGIMENT 106 ENLISTED RANKS PICKELHAUBE.
A rare leather pickelhaube model 1887 for an infantryman from Saxon Infantry Regiment 106. Unusually the helmet is also stamped 1885 which is two years before the official introduction of the model date. IMPERIAL GERMAN PIONEER BATTALION 24 PICKELHAUBE.
A good medium sized all leather bodied pickelhaube for a member of Pioneer Battalion 24. The skull is in excellent shape, light crazing overall, some misshaping to one side of the leather rear peak, front peak good. TURKISH WWI FIGHTING KNIFE.
A rare knife with fullered blade, flat back, sharpened edge and measuring 19cm. The overall length is around 32cm. These knives were never seen on the collectors market but one had always been on display in the Army museum in Istanbul. A good example of the silk ribbon with beautifully embroidered lettering and Iron crosses either side. The Long Service clasp dates from 1842 to 1913. read more
