GERMAN COLONIAL TROOPS LEATHER EQUIPMENT SET.

A very scarce set of leather equipment uniquely issued to members of the colonial troops for the German colonies. The leather is soft and supple, complete with its cross straps, riveted bayonet frog. A rare helmet of the Landesgendarmerie, virtually identical in form to the 1st Prussian Guard Dragoon Regiment, this example marked to the interior ‘LG15’. Good service wear, thick heavy brass with nickel overlay plate with some wear to the crown, with its original leather tab with faint traces of maker markings, date obscured.  read more

The two-piece buckle which the back section appears to be constructed from weaker metal than brass, more in the line of copper with its standard nickel overlay plate. One bit of corrosion to the left hand side of the buckle, with its double pronged belt fixing system, which at some time has been restored.  read more
