GERMAN WWI SAXON GUARD REITER ALL STEEL HEAVY CAVALRY HELMET.

A very large size skull model 1894 constructed in steel, no visible damage or repairs to the skull, slight polished corrosion to the front peak area, at the rear of the skull is the raised ridge which is typical of Saxon guard steel skulled and Brass helmets, brass trimmed to the complete rim, with its complete oval-shaped brass spike base and removable spike, large Saxon Guard Reiter front plate, which has minor indentations, large size domed chin scales, national and Saxon cockades, with some losses of paint to the national cockade. A small hole right at the very rear of the peak indicating this helmet at one time has been screwed to the wall as a souvenir, to the interior, the leather liner is all complete with the exception of one tongue to the leather, original leather drawstring, the green painted finish behind the front plate is congealed, the leather lining to the interior of the rear peak is all present , slightly loose from the main body. A scarce Saxon Guard Reiter enlisted ranks helmet.
