Non size stamped but on test it is possibly 57, constructed in soft Melton material. There is no moth damage anywhere to the crown of the cap, the copper brown piping standing proud against the field grey of the top of the cap and against the darker green to the upper and lower sections of the centre band, this piping was only worn up until early 1943. The classic Japanese enlisted ranks field cap, heavily service used, no moth damage, missing its strap. A portion of the Japanese yellow star to the front is broken away. An extremely rare piece of Japanese equipment from WWII being the assault shovel with its long wood haft.
