A very nice service worn and extremely collectable GEW 98 bolt action rifle. The standard arm of the German soldier in WWI, marked to the receiver ‘Waffen Fabrik Mauser A-G Oberndorf’ dated ‘1916’. A very nice example, some staining to the blade. The wood grip has five notches and eight stars engraved into the wood, the meaning of this is unknown to us.
