GERMAN WWI SOLDIERS GAS MASK.

A good clean example of the soldiers gas mask of WWI. The field grey green painted filter retaining stamped date in ink, applied designations and dates, one date of 26 March 17. Some slight rust to the upper part of the filter but the majority of the paintwork to the mask edges and the filter itself remaining. GERMAN WWI IRON CROSS 1ST CLASS.

A very unusual variant, convex construction, with silver reinforcing plates behind the hinge and the hook, also a large silver rivet to the centre to retain the iron plate to the frame. Some slight edge knocks to the ribbed frame above the crown and a slight bend to the tip of the left hand arm. Wide tapering pin, original to the piece.  read more

A very nice quality convex example with the rear fixing of an upper and lower threaded stud at 12 & 6 o’clock with unusual threaded disc fixings with two pieces of leather on the reverse side. Favoured by First World War aviation personnel for attaching to their leather flying jackets.  read more

A rare variant, slight convex construction. White metal concave rear plate retained by a smaller silver coloured plate, the screw top having two small rings. Excellent finish to the face of the award, good frosting remaining on the frame.  read more

GERMAN WWI IRON CROSS 1ST CLASS DISC BACK.

A very rare variant, excellent quality real silver ‘800’ stamped to one of the arms of the cross to the lower arm of the cross on the reverse side. Silver concave shape. Rear plate retained by a smaller brass screw plate having a serrated edge. Some loss of finish to the central iron core, see Nimmergut Deutsche Ordnung and Ehrenzeichen Volume 2 page 1066 number 2559 for this variant.  read more

GERMAN IRON CROSS 1870.

A very rare seen variant with a small ring fitted to the top arm of the cross, through the small ring is fitted the larger ribbon ring, with original old ribbon, which has faded. A good condition medal with deep strike, some small loss of paint to the finish on both sides of the award.
