A very nice deeply struck heavy white metal circular plaque, maker marked ‘C.Balmberger, Nuremberg’ on the reverse side. The image at the front commemorates the Orientation Drive 1937 of Standarte 78 showing an NSKK motorcycle ride of a swastika armband talking to an either SA or NSKK man in a vehicle. Pictured on page 480 of Belt Buckles and Brocades of the Third Reich by John R. Angolia, this very rare mint condition buckle with superb gilt. ‘Assmann’ marked on the reverse side. All the silvering to the central octagonal logo good with frosted highlighted swastika. One keeper fitted. A very rare but known and documented variant example.  read more
