GERMAN WWI IRON CROSS 1ST CLASS.

A very unusual variant, convex construction, with silver reinforcing plates behind the hinge and the hook, also a large silver rivet to the centre to retain the iron plate to the frame. Some slight edge knocks to the ribbed frame above the crown and a slight bend to the tip of the left hand arm. Wide tapering pin, original to the piece.  read more

A very rare variant, excellent quality real silver ‘800’ stamped to one of the arms of the cross to the lower arm of the cross on the reverse side. Silver concave shape. Rear plate retained by a smaller brass screw plate having a serrated edge. Some loss of finish to the central iron core, see Nimmergut Deutsche Ordnung and Ehrenzeichen Volume 2 page 1066 number 2559 for this variant.  read more
