JAPANESE WWII ARMY OFFICERS KATANA.

A very nice 66cm Showa period blade, which is devoid of any chips. There is a very faint view of the wavy Hamon. The tang is complete with a Showa stamp, which is standard on any blades made after 1934. The actual date of manufacture of this blade is 1941, it has a 7 character signature. A very nice sign in red, white, blue and black measuring 40 x 40cm, the top of sign is surmounted by the NSKK insignia. White square below with a red central field with the outline of a double ended spanner. A super item, untouched since the end of WWI. All leather skull, rear peak slightly distorted but both peaks firmly attached with good strong stitching to the main body, we always mention this with pickelhaubes because the stitching does tend to rot over the intervening years.
