The shatterproof goggles with fixed frames are the rarest of any flying goggle of any combatant air force of WWII. These are the very first model, the tinted lenses all complete with the same shape eyepieces as the later models but the huge difference being the fixed side earpieces. An A4 sized letter, on the headed paper of ‘Dipl.Ing.Otto Skorzeny SS Sturmbannfuhrer D.Res.’ dated ‘2nd October 1943’, it is addressed to the head of the SD ‘Obergruppenfuhrer Ernst Kaltenbrunner’, thanking him for his assistance in the Skorzeny rescue of Beneto Mussolini in 1943.
