GERMAN WWII PANZER OFFICERS M43 CAP.

This cap was purchased by the collector from Regimentals over 30 years ago, although not size stamped on test it would appear to be size 56. Standard black wool, early war period of high quality with a twisted cord waffenfarbe attached to the crown and the front scallops of the cap. The insignia is of the enlisted ranks version and is grey on black Bevo weave with a national cockade in the embroidered fashion, double button front. The interior of the cap was originally fitted with an ersatz style sweatband, which although still intact is heavily worn and frayed and split, the remaining interior lining of the issue quality, very heavy wear use evident. Recently purchased from probably the best combat uniform and equipment collection in the United Kingdom comprising Army tropical, Waffen SS, Luftwaffe paratrooper and many other items of the same genre. The collection was begun by the then 15 year old boy who used to visit our own shop in London in the very early 1980’s and has built this collection up over 40 years culminating in the writing of excellent books on these subjects.
