GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE TROPICAL OVERSEAS CAP.

A highly unusual cap in its construction being in the standard boat shaped form but constructed in a tropical canvas type material with a heavy weave into the cloth. Faded yellow piping around the scallop of the cap with a machine embroidered enlisted ranks eagle and national cockade. The interior in a faded light blue devoid of any markings. All the bronze finish remaining to the face side, on the reverse side, the full complement of the designer Peekhaus and maker Schwerin Berlin. A simple long strap with adjustment buckle 4cm in width but incredibly rare. This is the strap for allowing the wearer to wear the six compartment MP40 pouch, with the pouch full of ammunition it is heavy and subsequently the straps were strong and wide, generally encountered in webbing the leather example is far more difficult to find.
