GERMAN WWI IMPERIAL GERMAN 13TH REGIMENT OF UHLANS TRUMPET BANNER.

A trumpet banner measuring 46cm x 40cm with a beautifully hand embroidered black Prussian Eagle Order insignia on a red felt background to one side of the banner, on the opposite side the base cloth is field grey, with again the most beautifully chain stitched hand embroidered regimental insignia of the 13th Prussian Uhlan Regiment. The banner is surrounded with a long strip of black, red and white national colour wool beading, attached to that is cream fringing measuring 4cm in width. On one side of the banner the fringing has come adrift from the main body but with careful restoration it can re-attached. Also at the base of the trumpet banner the fringing is loose from the main body and again with careful attention this could be re-instated. To the upper left hand side, mainly on the field grey side, there has been some moth damage and there is a peppering of moth holes and moth tracking to the banner overall, on both sides, with more moth damage on the field grey side than the red side. A beautiful example of a rare Uhlan Regiment Cavalry trumpet banner from the WWI or pre WWI period and would make a fine backdrop for any German Cavalry collection.
