BRITISH WWI ENLISTED RANKS SERVICE DRESS TROUSERS.
The very rare combat trousers issued to British soldiers in WWI, this fabulous set appears to be unworn, no moth damage anywhere, the nap to the cloth is absolutely perfect with the remains of its original paper label still adhered to the back of the trousers. A good size waistband measuring 32 inches with long legs. The trousers have the classic double rows of stitching on the upper and lower parts of the pocket aperture. The waistband has some light rust stains, marked ‘137’ over ‘WD’ with broad arrow with the letter ‘L’ below. A small section of the cotton lining has been cut out measuring 1½ inches x ½ inch, presumably from an old name label. some oxidisation to the galvanised buttons, two of the steel buttons have rusted. A beautiful set for a British WWI combat trousers ideal for a combat mannequin. Ex Michael Baldwin collection.
