GERMAN WWII ARMY M35 CAMOUFLAGE COMBAT HELMET.

A battle damaged fabulous camouflage paint finish combat helmet. The shell is stamped ‘EF 66’, batch numbers are indistinct. The helmet has a mixture of tan and green and we would suspect the theatre of use being Tunisia or Southern Italy, the paint coverage is excellent. The liner retaining rivet heads still retain with their original paint finish. As the helmet is viewed from the front the profile on the right hand side is slightly misshapen where it has taken a shrapnel hit, a piece of shrapnel or small calibre round has entered the helmet from the interior and blown outwards also on the right hand side but it has not pierced the liner leather. The inner bowl still has its Army apple green paint finish. The interior rim is painted in a pure tropical tan, which may have been its original covering and the flecks of green may have been added later in another campaign notably Tunisia or Southern Italy. The helmet retains its M35 aluminium banded liner, which shows considerable wear use, however the leather is soft and supple with its original drawstring.
