GERMAN WWI M.17 CAMOUFLAGE TRENCH HELMET WITH ORIGINAL CHINSTRAP AND LINER.

A huge size ‘ET66’ stamped shell, the exterior in a three colour camouflage with narrow black separation lines. The camouflage finish is good and clear, no losses but has dulled slightly overall. Standard M.17 steel liner band. The original three pad liner system is all intact with the inner pads and its original drawstring, with evidence of much wear use to the pads. The name ‘UNTEROFFIZIER BECHTOLD’ hand applied to the inner rear apple green coloured skirt. Still attached to the helmet is its ultra rare chinstrap, there is one slight tear close to a buckle but fundamentally the strap is good and strong. We would remind collectors that to obtain an original chinstrap for an M.16 or M.17 or M.18 helmet is incredibly rare and they are now fetching in excess of £250 to £350 each strap.
