GERMAN WWII U-BOAT ESCAPE APPARATUS KNOWN AS THE TAUCHRETTE.
The Tauchrette is a Draeger designed escape vest, they were produced in the maroon colour and in tan by both Draeger and Auer, this is the tan example. It has seen storage wear. The name ‘W.Weber’ with the number ‘17’ is applied just behind the upper collar. The back strap is all complete. Slight rust staining and storage soiling can be seen through our web images. The CO2 container is all complete in the base of the vest. The canvas tubing is all complete, there is one small split. The rubber mouthpiece has half rotted away but incredibly the nosepiece is still attached, A very small Kriegsmarine acceptance rubber ink stamp is on the lower flap, accompanied by a number ‘42520’. For photographic purposes we have removed the breathing tube as some elements on and around this tube are delicate and we do not wish to cause any further damage, the tube and its gasket will be in situ when delivered to the eventual customer. More extensive, extra images can be seen on our new Premium website, type in regimentalsmilitaria.co.uk in to your web browser.
