GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE FIELD DIVISION HAUPTMANN’S TUNIC.

A standard Luftwaffe officers tunic, open collar wear, four button closure, four patch pockets with pleats and flaps, deep turned back cuffs, single pleat to the reverse side. The tunic has seen much service wear, there is a reasonable amount of staining around the collar area. There are some areas of moth damage below the lower pocket, both to the button and to the opening of the opposite side, the base of one cuff and tiny nips in some other places including the green waffenfarbe of the shoulder boards. The insignia is totally original to the tunic, it can only be a Luftwaffe Field Division officer, with its slightly oxidised Luftwaffe officers breast eagle. Three loops for a short medal ribbon bar above the right hand pocket, three sets of loops for three separate awards to the upper right hand pocket. A nice maker’s label of ‘Pieksen & Kohlmeyer, Oldenburg’. A dagger hanger close to the inside pocket. A tailor’s hole through the lower left hand pocket for the passing through of the dagger or sword hanger. A generally nice tunic to a rare arm of the Luftwaffe.
