BRITISH WWII PLASFOOT HELMET.
A most intriguing helmet being the commercially available item manufactured in a Bakelite material, they helmet were privately sold and some believe these were used in areas where metal sparking from the striking of the steel helmet could cause explosion. The helmet is interesting in the fact that it has been used as a fireguards example and thus painted as such. Very few of these helmets are ever encountered painted, the exterior finish is in a beige white coat, this has been carefully incised so that the letter ‘FG’ with a black line surrounding the base of the helmet shows the basic black base of the skull below. The liner is complete with its chinstrap, which has the buckle broken away from the short section of strap.
