PORTUGUESE SPANISH CIVIL WAR COMBAT HELMET.

During WWI Great Britain supplied Portugal with steel helmets, these had a fluted bowl and smooth lower brim. This example used by the Portuguese Volunteer Legion fighting with the nationalist forces in Spain in 1936 to 39. Two bullet holes through the skull from the inside outwards, the lining all missing, the majority of the paint finish present with rust bleed around the lower rim with the Portuguese Legion light green cross to the front. The Portuguese Volunteers were known as the Viriatos (The Green Legion).
