BRITISH WWII NATIONAL FIRE SERVICE BRODIE HELMET, IDENTIFIED.
A 1939 dated liner Brodie helmet, painted black with a National Fire Service decal applied to the front, slightly different badge than we have normally encountered with a Union Flag to the centre. Tied to the chinstrap in a small plastic envelope is a National Fire Service certificate of service to a Leonard Carpenter with his National Fire Service number, date of discharge 16th June 1944, rank on discharge Section Leader. Wartime service from 2nd September 1939 with the local authority Fire Brigade and then with National Fire Service from the 18th August 41 to the 16.11.1944, with the signature of the Fire Force Commander.
