GERMAN WWI PRUSSIAN REGIMENT 9 OFFICERS LATE WAR TUNIC.
A very nice condition large size field grey leutnant’s tunic for Prussian Infantry Regiment No.9. The tunic is in a nice slightly lighter shade of field grey. Completely free of any moth damage or staining. Apple green stand collar. Stitch-in wide white underlay shoulder boards with Prussian black and silver fleck with gilded Regiment No 9 to each board. The tunic is basically M.15 style with fly front, deep turned back cuffs, M.15 skirted back. As the war progressed after 1915 officers were finding that the model 10 and 15 having just two lower pockets was not enough for the amount of items they had to carry whilst in the trenches, or in general service. Many officers when ordering tunics had them constructed with two upper breast pockets with flaps and pleats, the two lower pockets are identical to the M.15 and model 1910 style. A faded Iron Cross ribbon to the upper right breast, all the original buttons are in place, the lining absolutely complete. The traditional two inner hidden pockets in the rear skirt are present. Many images exist of these tunics being worn and they were especially favoured by aviation officers. This item sold by Regimentals some years ago and just re-purchased.
