An excellent blade marked ‘RZM M.7/8’ the only mark to the blade having been left by the brass inner scabbard blade retaining bands. Much original cross grain finish remaining. This would appear to be a very early RZM blade, all of the fittings to both cross guards are the early heavy nickel type. Brown wood grip undamaged with tis high quality national eagle and undamaged SA inset. The fittings for the scabbard are also nickel with a brown painted scabbard that has virtually all of its paint remaining with just slight chips to the left and right hand edges. The four screws holding the scabbard fittings in place have all their heads, which have been unturned. The dagger is complete with its original brown hanging strap, which is ‘Assmann DRGM’ and ‘RZM M5/8’ marked, interestingly the RZM number on the clip matches the blade on the dagger.
