GERMAN WWI PICKELHAUBE BOOK BY DIDIER LAINE.
First published in 1984, this was the first ever book on the subject of the German headdress known as the pickelhaube and its associated helmets that gave in-depth detail to the collector as how to identify various helmets and regiments We bought our own copy in 1984 and still use to date, virtually every week, our own copy is battered and beaten with the spine having to be re-stitched. This absolutely superb example of its 1984 book is a must for anybody wishing to learn about the Imperial German helmets. The book is published in three languages, English, German and French with some good colour photographs throughout the book. Other than the colour photographs, most of the pages are of line drawings, which normally one would associate with poor quality, not in this case, the drawings are professionally done and all of the colours of the parts of the helmet, whether they be silver or gold, are highlighted in such. It lists every Regiment of the Imperial German Army and all the small details that is needed to identify whether the helmet you are being offered or you have seen is absolutely correct and has not been switched around with parts from other helmets. The book shows you the shape of the front peaks of the various types of the helmet, known as the pickelhaube and all of the colours of the individual cockades on the afore-mentioned type of helmets.
