GERMAN WWII BATTLE OF THE RIVER PLATE SOUVENIR ASHTRAYS.

Two V shaped cast items, each measuring 12 x 9cm. Within the three sides are the names of the three ships involved in the destruction of the battleship Graf Spee, Ajax, Exeter and Achilles, with an impression in the lower part of the field of the Graf Spee, one is cast in solid lead, the other is cast in bronze. We have been involved in the acquiring and sale of items from the Battle of the River Plate for many years but have never seen items such as this, they were found in Uruguay recently by a pilot friend of our business who constantly flies to South America. Interesting commemorative pieces of the famous Battle of the River Plate, Great Britain’s first naval victory of WWII.
