IMPERIAL GERMAN 1842 PICKELHAUBE.
A magnificent condition 1st model pickelhaube from 1842, these early pickelhaubes stand 37cm in height from the front peak to the very tip of the spike and are highly impressive helmets. The history of the pickelhaube shows that from under the 100 years from 1842 to 1914 the pickelhaube shrunk in size. This Prussian Line Infantry Regiment example with a perfect skull slight bit of congealing, the stitching to the front and rear peaks absolutely firm, the standard long version of the Prussian helmet plate, which is the exact plate for 1842, all the other brass fittings in perfect condition, slightly dulled with its correct set of domed chin scales. The one large black and white national cockade fitted to the left hand side of the helmet as the helmet is viewed. Its inner sweatband , which consists at 14 tongues is all complete and undamaged.
