GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE ISSUED M.40 CAMOUFLAGE COMBAT HELMET.

A nice and unusual camouflage combat helmet painted in a light grey/ivory, we possibly think Tunisia or Italian campaign. The amount of paint remaining is quite evident on our web images, on running the finger over the area of the decal the very faint outline of a Luftwaffe decal is evident. The interior crown is still with its original Luftwaffe blue paint. The M.40 liner band, which unusually is in aluminium instead of zinc, therefore a very late M.35 liner/ early 1940. The leather liner has good colour, one of the tongues missing, another very loose and various cracks across other aspects of the leather but all is firm and good. Complete with a ‘1944’ dated chinstrap, which appears to be original to the helmet. The amount of paint applied to the inner skirt has made it impossible to read the shell size but on test the liner would appear to be 58.
