GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE SINGLE DECAL M.40 COMBAT HELMET WITH CARRYING CRADLE.
A very nice condition ‘ET66’ stamped shell, batch number ‘803’ Luftwaffe single decal combat helmet retaining all of its 1940 pattern blue grey colour. The Luftwaffe decal good and clear with just minor abrasions to the right hand wing. The paint has remained on all three liner retaining rivet heads. The liner in an absolutely superb colour, stamped size ‘58’ with the fragments of the original drawstring in place. Brown leather chinstrap, which is ‘Wutterpal’ maker marked with the 1937 date to the strap. A very ingenious soldier has created a carrying cradle out of a long buckled strap, a water bottle sprung loaded clip and two side clips out of metal and leather. Some parts of the surrounding strap of the skull a form of black composition material has been used to make sure that the cradle does not move and has left an indentation into the paintwork of the helmet itself. To the very tip of the long strap surrounding the skull is the maker mark and date of ‘1942’.
