Very little is known about the fact that Portugal had a considerable contingent on the Western Front during WWI, their base in England was in the New Forest Hampshire and there is a memorial set in the forest. English made helmets with the fluted skull are scarce, this example is with its original colour and its sweatband, inner liner and its very rare chinstrap, these are normally broken away. The sweatband is complete, it does have some, what appears to be either burn or rodent damage.
