ENGLISH PRE WWI BRITISH 3RD (THE KING’S OWN) HUSSARS BUSBY.
A fabulous condition late Victorian early Edwardian officers fur busby in its identified tin, owned and worn by Captain F.G.Watson. The fur is absolutely superb, the blue busby bag with its gold trim without any moth damage, with its gilded wire woven cockade and cap lines around the centre of the busby. Complete with its white Morocco leather liner and original drawstring, some age toning to the white leather. The upper inner crown with the beautiful gilt maker’s logo of ‘Hamburger Rogers & Company, Kings Street, Covent Garden, London’. The helmet is with its correct long white Ostrich and Vulture feather plume, it is also complete with its correct officers Hussar pattern plume holder and gilded ring, the original cotton carrying bag for the helmet, its long set of cap lines, its tin with the ‘Captain F G Watson’ label and the ‘Hamburger & Sons’ metal label to the exterior of tin, the plume tube for the plume itself. Complete with its Hussar pattern rope ringed beautifully gilded, leather and velvet lined chin chain. The 3rd Hussars, originally formed in 1685, saw service in Ireland, Spain and The Netherlands and various other campaigns, including the Napoleonic Wars. The Regiment was part of the 4th Cavalry Brigade, at the outbreak of WWI it was sent to France, in WWII it was converted to armoured troops, a long and distinguished history.
