GERMAN WWII NSKK MARINE OFFICERS BLUE TOP VISOR CAP.

A highly unusual cap from the NSKK. Although non size stamped, on test it appears to be size 58 or 59. The upper body, which is a removable blue top and has been hand stitched to the main body of the cap is in the form very similar to a Kriegsmarine NCO visor cap. Standard gilded NSKK metal eagle with a very fine high quality hand embroidered NSKK Marine cockade. Standard mohair centre band. The leather strap is of the naval style having twin NSKK side buttons. There is no moth anywhere to the cap. Slight age toning to the crown of the blue top. Double ribbed edged visored peak with slight congealing to the patent leather on the exterior of the visor. To the interior a dark tan leather sweatband, undamaged, with faint traces of an original owner’s name applied. The stitching in the forehead area has rotted and in that area the sweatband is loose. The interior lining in black brushed cotton with an undamaged unusually shaped centre central lozenge that has one crack. On pulling down the leather sweatband is revealed an unusual wickerwork centre band to the cap.
