GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE SINGLE DECAL PARATROOPER HELMET WITH CLOTH COVER.

A very nice condition ET66 stamped shell, liner size 68 with head size 56. The exterior shell retains virtually all its original field grey green factory finish with some areas of rust bleed. The Luftwaffe decal good and clear with one abrasion to the rear of the head of the eagle. Original three hole spanner bolts intact. To the interior lining the strapping arrangement is intact showing service wear but all male/female closure studs intact, the final closure stud on its adjuster loop is very firmly attached and we do not intend to try and open this for fear or damage. The Sorbo rubber that runs between the liner and the liner band is solid, some light roughness to the light tan leather of the liner on the lower edge. One of the pair of holes towards the front of the helmet liner are very frail between the two holes. The maker mark of ‘Karl Heisler, Berlin’ is good and clear to the front section of the leather. Accompanying the helmet is an original army splinter pattern single sided camouflage cover with foliage loops that has been field adapted by the Luftwaffe paratrooper to fit this helmet the paratrooper has done this by cutting out a small strip of the cover , as the M35 and M42 helmet shells are larger than the M 38 Para shell and joined the 2 pieces back together with a strip of lining material The cover itself has various nicks to the cloth and some light discoloration. Small areas of rust bleed that match the rust bleed on the helmet shell and is undoubtedly an original helmet cover for this helmet. A tried and tested method that we have analysed over many years of handling these form of items, when relating to helmet covers or soft caps is to remove the helmet cover from the helmet, invert it on a flat surface, if the form of the cover stays in a bowl then it is definitely original, if it collapses then it is not. The same format works with M.41 Tropical caps and M43 caps. More extensive, extra images can be seen on our new Premium website, type in regimentalsmilitaria.co.uk in to your web browser.
