GERMAN WWII SS PAPERWORK GROUPING.
Approximately in 2020 the SS Wehrpass of Wilhelm Gairing was consigned to us and subsequently sold, the consigner did not remember at the time that he also had paperwork accompanying the wehrpass, which he has now found. The paperwork relates to Wilhelm Gairing who was killed in Warsaw on the 18th September 1944, the first piece is a short history of Gairing’s service and his pre war history known as the Lebenslauf. A handwritten letter to the family of Gairing dated ‘5th October 1944’ describing his death, signed by an SS Untersturmfuhrer from field post number ‘3501’. A typed letter dated ‘5.10.1944’ from his area Burgermeister, Josef Obermeier who was also an SS Untersturmfuhrer, being a virtually identical but typed letter to the previous, over-signed by the local Burgermeister on the ‘7.11.44’. Two photographs, one a group photograph of 12 SS men in field grey uniform, accompanied by a studio photograph of whom we presume to be Gairing with a female, all decorations visible, all insignia visible. Another typed letter to Frau Gairing. Another typed letter to Frau Gairing dated ’17.12.44’. A handwritten letter ‘Holland 19th November 1942’ pen signed by Wilhelm Gairing, which we presume is to a friend or maybe a brother. Further documentation, both wartime and post war. A photograph of Gairing’s grave in 1939 local documents. Post war documentation regarding his family and death. Four death cards. Further letters from the local Burgermeister to the family. Invoices for various items. It would be good if the original purchaser of the Wehrpass would notice this posting on our web site and put the paperwork and the werhpass together.
