AUSTRIAN WWI 2 VOLUME WORK ON AUSTRIAN HELMETS.

A fabulous arrival to the book market is the first serious work ever completed on the history of Austrian helmets. The work is a double volume set, 600 pages in total over the two volumes, both volumes are enclosed in a very attractive slip case. A total of 1800 illustrations, which include 1080 colour photographs, 378 contemporary photographs and 50 images of illustrations and posters and period illustrations. The text is all in Italian, however the illustrations are so superb that the difficulty of reading the Italian text becomes insignificant and with today’s translation services it should be easily read. No work has ever been produced before on Austrian helmets and this is a long awaited addition to the collector helmet market. The books not only contain the steel helmets of WWI but the predecessor helmets including the cavalry czapker, the shakos of the Austrian Army at the beginning of WWI before the introduction of the steel helmet and of course the steel helmet period covers both the Berndorfer and the standard M.17. All of the protectors brow plates. The work also includes many German helmets of WWI including the famous M.18 cut out, armoured front plates and German body armours, all in full colour. A superb double volume work.
