GERMAN WWII SS MODEL 1936 CHAINED OFFICERS DAGGER.

This dagger is completely fresh to the market and has not been in any collectors hands previously. The fittings to the dagger are all steel and plated we estimate the period of construction to be anywhere between 1937- 39, the blade absolutely superb with all its original cross grain finish remaining, the only slight markings being the lines created by the brass inner scabbard blade retaining bands, good deep etching to the SS motto, a nice tight fit into the scabbard, the wood grip having a few minor abrasions and indentations, without any cracks or breakages, undamaged SS enamel inset, nice quality national eagle, the upper and lower grip fittings with plating slightly thin, the plating to the upper and lower scabbard mount excellent on the face side, on the reverse side some minor lifting, the first type hanging chains having light rust spotting, the second link from the scabbard mount having the standard intertwined SS marking in a square, the closing catch of the chains working correctly, the scabbard is of the early blued variety and all of the bluing is complete on the face side, the dagger must have been laying something damp for a period of time the bluing on the reverse side is still all complete but with rust bleed through from the steel below, the rust spotting which is also very lightly on the upper lower and centre chain mount, all of the screws six in total that hold the scabbard mounts to the scabbard are complete and with the heads unturned, the ball on the lower scabbard mount totally un-dented.
