GERMAN WWII NSKK MARINE OFFICERS DAGGER.

The standard NSKK officers daggers are readily available on the collectors market, the small Marine units of the NSKK where the daggers were gilded is much harder to obtain. This example has a very nice blade marked ‘RZM M7/66’ dated ‘1940’, the M.7/66 is the RZM number of the Company Eickhorn. A good amount of cross grain finish remaining to the blade. Some slightly cleaned cloudiness to the blade. The gilt wash to the upper and lower cross guard mounts is generally very good and extremely visible. The wood grip is good, one abrasion at right angles to the grip just below the eagle and swastika, which is of the aluminium type. Undamaged SA inset. On the rear side of the grip there is one small chip to the wood. The scabbard has excellent gilt wash to the upper and middle scabbard mount, the lower scabbard mount has lost a degree of its gilt finish. The scabbard paint all original two minor chips to the front side and some slight loss to the upper part of the scabbard on the right hand edge. The chains unusually are double marked, NSKK Korpsfuhrung, the letter ‘K’ of the word Korpsfuhrungon all of the NSKK daggers is always slightly oblitereated. The last chain on the other set of links is RZM marked. Only very faint traces of the gilt wash in the lower areas. Complete with its sprung loaded belt clip. When these daggers were made the gilt wash was extremely thin and it is a rarity to find any of these dagger with as much degree of finish remaining as this example.
