GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE TAN AND WATER PATTERN PARATROOPER SMOCK.

A generally excellent condition well service used Luftwaffe tan and water pattern paratrooper smock. Good heavy duck material, which is more favoured by collectors than the lightweight examples, having all of its original five Luftwaffe blue buttons fitted. The two upper openings to the smock are with metal zips, constructed by Rapid, the two lower zips in plastic are by RiRi, the zips fitted overall were factory fitted and all four zips have their leather pullers. The smock still has its flare pistol holster on the reverse side, we mention this as quite often the flare pistol pockets are removed. One button is missing from the closure flap of the flare pistol pocket. To the upper inside right hand panels when viewing the garment there is the faint remains of the RB number plus the size II in Roman numerals and a partial date of ‘1944’. The lower cuff edges and the lower edge of the garment are frayed. The interior sleeve windproof cuffs have been removed. To the lower left hand side of the garment a period ordnance field repair in canvas has been applied to the inner side of the smock and the female part of one of the male/female press studs is missing, all of the other press studs are complete but rusted and maybe inoperable. Across the two back panels of the garment there are various snags to the material but no actual moth holes. The interior waist pull cord material is intact but the cord itself is missing and there is some rot to the stitching of the pull cord covering material. Standard air vents under each armpit. The smock is fitted with a Luftwaffe light grey on tan tropical breast eagle, it has been machine stitched and there is no evidence to the interior of the stitching coming straight through the material indicating that this eagle was possibly factory fitted. Overall a very good excellent displayable paratrooper smock that has seen good service wear with all its complete functions present.
