BRITISH WILLIAM IV 1830 TO 1837 BELL TOP SHAKO.
A rare and exceptional condition bell top shako from the reign of William IV, the leather top and peak superb stitching has not rotted, leather has not been pierced or distorted, the Beaver sides again excellent without any moth damage, the helmet does not have a regimental distinction but is possibly a Yeomanry regiment or a Rifle regiment with all the fittings being in black, it’s lions head motifs also in black on either side of the helmet to allow the suspension of the green corded cap lines, one of the individual plates for the chin scales are missing on one side, the horsehair plume in black complete, to the interior the helmet is in a magnificent condition, the red leather sweatband is intact with the remainder of the interior completely lined in red silk which has some slight staining and age foxing but has not shot.
