GERMAN WWI BADEN ENLISTED MANS PICKELHAUBE. VIRTUALLY UNUSED.

This example was probably one of the thousands of pickelhaubes that was sold by the U.S. Government as War Bonds when captured at the end of WWI. It is extremely difficult to obtain a helmet in this condition. The bonus is the helmet is a large size, stamped ‘57’. The exterior skull is near mint. All of the stitching to the front and back peaks complete and not rotted, the front peak trim is without any kinks. All of the fittings, which include the back strap, removable spike, circular spike base. Baden front plate and strap fittings including the front trim all matching in the chemical grey patination. The national and Baden cockades are so mint they could be thought of being modern copies but are in fact absolutely original. The strap is mint. To the interior the skull and the 8 tongue liner all in matching light tan colour, some slight scuffing to the lower inner edges of the liner, with its original leather drawstring. The helmet is also hand applied regimentally marked ‘JR111’. There is a faint manufacturers circular stamp and a pencil applied original owner’s name to the skull.
