GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE FORESTRY SERVICE TUNIC AND CAP.

A magnificent quality forest green tunic of an Oberforstmeister of the Luftwaffe Forestry Service. Four button closure, four pockets, two lower pockets angled, two upper pockets with pleats and flaps, deep turned back cuffs, skirted back. The insignia is a set of stitch-on shoulder boards with green velvet base with silver inlay, followed by green twisted cord and two acorns. Matching heavy button wire collar patches. Silver trim to the collar. Correct bullion wire on green Luftwaffe Forestry officers eagle. All of the edges of the tunic, which includes the tunic collar, two front panels, deep turned back cuffs and pocket flap edges all piped in a darker shade of green than the tunic material. No moth, large size. A hole is tailored through the lower left pocket for the application of a hunting hanger leather strap. A very large size high saddle shape visor cap in a grey green material, no moth to the cap, forest green piping to the crown and the upper and lower sections of the dark green centre band. Correct bullion wire on forestry green backing material to both the eagle and the cockade. Green and silver twisted cord cap cord. Standard fibre peak. To the interior the light tan sweatband all intact showing minor wear use. Slight water staining. Light tan satin lining with the majority of the ‘Deutsche Wert Arbeit’ markings to the centre celluloid lozenge, the inner board band inside the cape has at one time been cracked and has slightly distorted the side view of the cap.
