GERMAN WWI K98 SAW BACK BAYONET.

A very fine example of the scarce saw back K.98 bayonet. Maker marked ‘Gottlieb Hammesfahr, Solingen’. A nice clear Imperial acceptance stamp on the flat back section of the blade. The lower cross guard of the bayonet is number stamped ‘430’. Wood grips undamaged. Imperial acceptance stamp just above the rifle retaining button, which is stiff. Fitted into its original scabbard and a very nice condition mid tan leather frog, which is Nuremberg maker marked to the upper loop part with a crown over roman numeral ‘III’ at the lower part of the frog, also the numbers ‘159’. The crown over the roman numeral III maybe the Bavarian Army Corps marking. This was recently discovered in Bavarian.
