GERMAN WWII SUBDUED CAMOUFLAGE SINGLE DECAL M40 COMBAT HELMET.

Issued as a straight single decal, the size stamping to the interior skirt is illegible because of over paint. To the exterior virtually all of the paint finish remains, which is an over paint in a mixture of two tones of green, thin to the crown. The army single decal is good and clear with one abrasion close to the right hand arm of the swastika. The helmet is with its original lining with all the tongues intact although the lining material has suffered slightly from leather rot. There is one owner’s name hand applied but in two different locations to the inner rear skirt, we believe the reason for this the first naming has been slightly over painted after the helmet was camouflaged, the owner then repainted his name above the camouflage paint, the name of ‘Ronsch’. A proportion of the chinstrap is still intact but very frail and with the tip broken. An interesting barn find combat helmet.
