As World War II progressed the shortage of wool became critical, the material known as Herringbone Twill in English came into use in Germany, and was used in the construction of tunics and trousers for all the armed services. This is a fabulous large size example of an army HBT combat tunic, good green colour, factory applied mouse grey Bevo woven collar patches, grey on green Bevo woven breast eagle, factory applied in crosshatch stitch, nice white ink size stampings to the interior, skeleton lined to the interior in grey satin, with its original factory paper tag attached, fitted to the tunic obviously by a collector post-war is a very nice set of mid war field grey centred slip on shoulder boards black twisted cord piped for a pioneer unit. A super tunic.
