An interesting helmet being a War economy helmet with a mixture of brass and chemically patinated field grey fittings, helmet is non-size stamped but on test it appears to be 53 or 54, excellent skull, slight congealing to the front and rear peaks, but both are firmly attached to the main body, the rear trim is in field grey, the ball top and ball base in brass, the Prussian helmet plate in brass with traces of field grey edges, strap posts are field grey as are the small type buckles to the thin chinstrap. National and state cockades present, one split to the front peak trim, the helmet has suffered battle damaged, the ball top is at a angle on its base, to the interior the nine tongued liner in black leather all intact and supple, with its original drawstring, very clearly ink rubber ink stamped A.R.18 to the interior skull,(artillery regiment 18).
