GERMAN WWI PRUSSIAN CANVAS OVER CORK PICKELHAUBE.

A very nice relic of WWI being the rare cork pickelhaube covered in field grey field grey canvas in four sections. Front and back peaks securely attached to the main body. The age of the front plate matches exactly the age of the spike and circular spike base. Both the national and state cockades are in place but the chinstrap is missing. The cork in the area just below the circular spike base has cracked with the spike and spike base themselves sinking into the helmet. The interior leather liner, which is not in tongue form is all complete. There are two minor what appear to be shrapnel holes just to the right side above the Prussian State cockade and we feel this is definitely a battlefield pick-up.
