GERMAN WWI PRUSSIAN GRENADIER REGIMENT 10 ERSATZ FELT PICKELHAUBE.
A very nice and extremely scarce pressed felt ersatz helmet issued to a soldier in Grenadier regiment no 10. Large Grenadier front plate, matching in condition and quality to the other metallic fittings all matching in colour with its ersatz pebbled leather chinstrap, correct Prussian national and state cockades. No damage to the skull. Complete with its 10 tongued leather liner, with its original drawstring. This Grenadier plate was worn by members of Prussian Grenadier Regiments 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12 only. There is a regimental markings in the rear peak GR10, the two pre pierced holes through the felt with their metallic surround are much wider apart than any other front plate proving that this helmet plate has always been fitted to this helmet.
The Prussian 10th Grenadier Regt. was an elite one, having originally been formed in 1808, during the Napoleonic Wars, following Prussia’s defeat at Jena in 1805.
