In World War I the German Army drivers caps were produced in black oilskin and field grey Oilskin, they are both rare, with the field grey version the hardest of two to obtain, invariably they are missing their chinstraps. This very rare example of the field grey double buckle strap in excellent condition, strap can also fit the 1915 Universal Field Cap, 29.5 cm hole to hole.
