GERMAN WWII DLV WHITE TOP VISOR CAP.
A scarce cap from the pre WWII period being a standard Luftwaffe type visor cap with mohair centre band and removable white top. For all of the Luftwaffe white top caps the arm of service colour is fitted to the upper and lower sections of the mohair centre band. In close inspection of the colour of the cloth to the base of the cap and the waffenfarbe surrounding the base, we have ascertained this cap was originally issued to the DLV. The upper part of the waffenfarbe has mainly been eaten by moth. At some stage in its life a Luftwaffe eagle and swastika has been fitted to the removable white top. Standard Luftwaffe eagle and cockade, the holes in the inner board can be seen where the original DLV insignia would have been fitted, double ribbed front leather peak, light tan leather sweatband, which is adrift from the main body of the cap in places. The white top is good. On lifting the Luftwaffe eagle two smaller pre sewn holes can be viewed beneath the eagle where originally a smaller DLV M.29 eagle would have been fitted.
