GERMAN WWII SINGLE DECAL EARLY COLOUR LUFTWAFFE PARATROOPER HELMET.

A highly interesting helmet, shell stamped ‘ET68’ in a slightly higher place than normally found, very close to the aluminium liner band. Batch number ‘1894’. The liner is stamped ‘58’. The unusual part of this helmet is that although being a single decal it is the early apple green colour normally found on double decal helmets, therefore this is possibly one of the first of the helmets issued with a single decal possibly at the same time as the regulations were instituted for the removal of the national tricolour. To the exterior at least 90% of the early apple green finish remaining with some areas rubbed through to the steel underneath. The Luftwaffe decal is clear with abrasions as can be seen in our web images. The spanner bolts are the early three hole variety with interestingly a section of wire passed through each one of the four spanner bolts, we presume this is for the fitting of a net cover. To the interior the liner is in dark tan with the liner and skull steel shell size still visible. Also visible is the ‘Karl Heisler, Berlin’ makers ink stamp at the front part of the liner. The chinstraps are considerably worn but all intact. What appears to be a period repair at the very back of the liner system. The buckles are all complete, both male/female press studs are in place, also some minor stitch repairs around the junction of the straps at the buckle end. The interior rubber is of the dark variety and is solid. The liner is undamaged with supple leather.
