GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE LEUTNANT FOUR POCKET SERVICE TUNIC.
A nice condition medium size tunic constructed in the classic Luftwaffe blue grey grained material. Some slight fading due to exposure to the sun, on lifting the collars back the original darker shade of Luftwaffe blue grey can be easily observed, also underneath the pocket flaps. Fitted with untouched examples of the yellow wool based Leutnant stitch in shoulder boards with a single button under one of the shoulder boards for the fitting of the parade aiguillettes. Collar patches are slightly worn with one bullion seagull for the rank of Leutnant, some wear to the wool backing of the collar patches, silver piping to the collar and to the collar patches themselves. An untouched example of a Luftwaffe wire woven officers breast eagle. Standard configuration of deep turned back cuffs, four pockets with flaps and pleats. Loops to the tunic for the fitting of a short medal ribbon bar and three awards. To the interior a ring has been sewn into the tunic just above the hole tailored through the lower left hand pocket for the hanging of the sword or dagger. To the interior of the inside pocket is the tailor’s label of the Company ‘Wilhelm Thiele of Munich’ with an officers name and the date ’10.1.42’, other lining areas all complete and undamaged, no moth at all on the tunic overall.
